Make your Own Pocket Altar Hosted by Tácharanan
Join us for a fun and creative in-person workshop where you’ll get to design your very own pocket altar! Perfect for carrying a little space of peace and intention wherever you go. We’ll provide all the materials, and you’ll leave with a unique, handcrafted altar to keep close to your heart. Whether you’re new to altars or a seasoned maker, this event is all about personal expression and inner connection. Can’t wait to see what you create!
This workshop is part of @sum.coconut.water community exhibition - Trinkets (7th - 10th May @ New Glasgow Society)
Tickets cost £11.50pp to cover materials and venue hire with a pay what you can for low income!
What to expect:
During this workshop, we will have a brief chat about the history of pocket altars before beginning to make our own. All materials will be provided, but if you would like to add a personalised photo to your altar, please e-mail this image to [email protected] and we can print this prior to the event. Feel free to bring any small sewable items or fabrics you might want to use. This session offers a chance to slow down, get creative, and learn some basic hand sewing skills.
A follow-along workbook will also be provided to all who attend.
How to get there:
Train 🚂 Exhibition Centre Station will be the closest train station with Charing Cross within walking distance from the venue.
Bus 🚌 The 2,3 or 77 drop you a short walk away from the venue.
Subway 🚇 Kelvinhall Subway station is a 10/15 minute walk from the venue.
Parking 🅿️ There is payed on street parking surrounding the venue.
Accessibility Information:
This venue has step-free access and can be entered using a wheelchair or mobility aid. However, please note that the toilet is small and not wheelchair-accessible.
The gallery space itself is compact, which may make movement difficult during busy periods or for anyone who prefers more room to navigate.
Lighting in the venue is bright, and there maybe be scented incense in use, which may affect visitors who are sensitive to fragrances.
