How fun and exciting! I am happy to be back at Zen Horse, by popular demand, to do yet another "Make Your Own Medicine Bag" mini retreat.The wild mustang is a symbol of freedom & resilience.
Freedom: Mustangs embody the spirit of freedom through their wild nature.
Resilience: Mustangs are a hardy population of horses that have adapted to the harsh landscapes of North America.
As we infuse the energy of the wild mustangs in our personal medicine bags, to open and end our personal ritual, we begin to understand these qualities in ourselves as well.
Medicine bags symbolize and maintain a relationship between the people and the spirit world. They are thought to have a strong tie to the owner and nature. Medicine bags contain items that symbolize personal well-being. They typically contain the "four medicines", which are: tobacco, sweet grass, sage, and cedar. They may also contain a special token that signifies a special memory or person. In the workshop you will be adding these 4 sacred medicines. You will also be given a small item that represents this initial sacred blessing of your medicine bag. Many put crystals of protection or stones that represent strength in their bags. I knew a woman once that put locks of her children's hair in her bag.
I will have the kits for a basic medicine bag. Note: it will not look like the picture on this event. You can personalize your bag with beads that you bring from home. At a later date you can adorn your medicine bag with stencils, paints, stains, burn marks, etc.
Please join me on Sunday April 19th for a sacred journey that marks a BEGINNING of a new transformation of your spiritual self.
Please bring a lawn chair or yoga mat for outside meditation. Our activity will be taking place in the barn with a wood burning stove. Dress appropriately for the weather that day. And bring your own SNACK (to be eaten whenever you want lol, we will not be taking time for a noon meal during this workshop).
In our sacred ceremony at the end of the day when you put your medicine bags on for the first time we will be drumming. Please bring your own drum or let me know if you will need one.
