About this Event
🌾 Make Your Own Besom Workshop 🌾
For centuries, brooms—often called besoms—have been more than household tools. Across cultures, they’ve symbolized protection, purification, and new beginnings. In old European traditions, besoms were crafted by hand from natural materials like birch, ash, and willow. They were used not only for sweeping floors, but also for energetically “sweeping away” stagnant energy, blessing new homes, and marking sacred ceremonies. The image of the broom has long carried an association with magic, intention, and transition—whether clearing space for a new season, protecting the hearth, or celebrating rites of passage.
At this workshop, you will be guided through the art of broom-making while learning about its folklore and symbolism. Each participant will create a handmade besom using natural, seasonal materials, infused with personal intention.
✨ During this hands-on experience, you will:
- Learn about the cultural history and symbolism of broom-making
- Explore the lore of brooms as tools of both the home and the spirit
- Craft your own handmade besom to take home
- Set an intention as you weave and bind your broom
