About this Event
The Rainbow is jazzed to host January’s MAKE and are connecting with our inner fire and flower child in this one. We welcome artist Andie Thompson into The Rainbow as our guide.
In this experience, we shall spend an evening learning how to hammer print flowers onto an organic cotton tote bag! Together we will explore how you can use a hammer to transfer the pigment from locally grown in-season flowers onto fabric and goods to create our own patterns. This class will invite you to step into the wide range of possibilities that hammer printing offers while simultaneously fostering a deeper connection with nature. We will talk through the steps of how to prepare your fabric to ensure clean, bright, and long lasting prints. We will also go over which flowers, leaves, and herbs work best with this process.
Each workshop participant will get to hammer print flowers onto their own cotton canvas tote bag to take home and enjoy.
At the end of the course, you will feel confident to start on your journey into hammer printing using flowers, leaves, and herbs.
It is recommended to bring a blank notebook that can be used as your hammer printing/ natural dye journal to take notes during the class.
Snacks, drinks and supplies are included in the cost of your ticket.
Cost: $55 per person includes all supplies, guidance, drinks and snacks. CAPACITY IS LIMITED!!
Details: This experience begins at 6pm. Feel free to park in the North Park Garage located at 3829 29th St. The hourly cost is reasonable.
MAKE is a monthly series hosted by Mara Altman and Nicole Zappala where we gather to connect and create over accessible, funky crafts. Experiences are guided by our hosts or in some cases, we invite artists and makers in to guide us. Check out some of the MAKEs we’ve done on Instagram.
