For our first Make Common at Common P(a)lace we’ll be using the power of stitch to examine, and perhaps overcome our fears. Our Monster Love session focuses on biophobic aspects - with the aim of bringing us more positive connection with ourselves, the natural world, and each other. Entry by cash donation to cover P(a)lace cost: suggested minimum £6.
You don’t need to bring anything but yourself, though sewing tools and materials are welcome if you wish to use / share your own.
Monster Love is a workshop by Sarah Johnson developed as part of practice-based design research looking at nature connection. It has previously featured at venues including the Freud Museum. The workshop leans on exposure therapy, with its core protocol that one should go towards that which one fears.
We meet Upstairs at Antenna Studios, Bowyers Yard, Haynes Lane, Crystal Palace. The space is lovely but heating can be temperamental. Sadly there is no wheelchair access and the stairs are a bit steep.
