A series of hands-on workshops for anyone 15+ wanting to deep dive into the creative world of music production
About this Event

Step into the world of music in this high-energy 3-week workshop—covering performing, beatmaking, sound engineering, and real pathways into the industry. Get involved with hands-on sessions, live demos, and group activities while unpacking the sounds you love, building your skills, and growing the confidence to take your next step.

Session 1 (29 May): GROOVIN’ ACOUSTICS

Explore rhythms, sounds and the connection between what we feel and hear in this interactive session. Break into groups for fun, hands-on activities using a variety of percussion instruments.

Session 2 (5 June): GOING ELECTRIC

Dive into a hands-on session where we explore favourite songs, try a plug-in-and-go demo, and get recording while learning the basics of mixing and mastering. Finish with a collaborative looping jam to bring it all together.

Session 3 (12 June): MAKE AND TAKE A BEAT

Enjoy a live performance and get an inside look at a professional music setup. Then, jam together and create a group beat that everyone can take home.

These workshops are open to ages 15+ and all cultures, offering anyone interested the chance to explore music, dive into the creative process, connect with like-minded people, and take their first step into the industry.

Come to one, two or all three sessions.

This program forms part of IC Open Access – Development program.

About the Artist/Facilitator

Growing up in country Victoria, Rapata Biddle-Maitland discovered early on how powerful music can be, helping him through some of his most emotional moments. With limited opportunities in his hometown, he worked and saved to follow his dream of moving to Melbourne, where he studied at JMC Academy and immersed himself in the music industry. Over the past six years, he’s been creating and performing his own music while gaining hands-on experience as an AV Tech and Sound Engineer across venues and events. From producing and beat-making to songwriting, instrument performance, and music distribution, he’s passionate about helping others explore music, build their skills, and take their first steps toward a career they love.
