MAKE AN ARTIST APONE FROM AN OLD SHIRT WORKSHOP

Reuse a worn-out or unloved man's shirt and turn it into a stylish and practical apron!
About this Event

In Newham, and elsewhere, when an apprentice started his apprenticeship making an apron would be one of the first things they would do. Clothes were expensive, uniforms for jobs were rare- so protecting your clothes was very important. An apprentice paid for the privilege, but your master would not usually pay for any clothing you needed.

In this workshop, you can bring a favourite but unloved shirt or pick from a collection of men's shirts provided, and transform it into a useful and trendy cross-back apron similar to those currently being sold for £55 by The White Company.

Tools we are provided. No experience is necessary.

This event is part of Newham Heritage Month 2024
