About this Event
Craft Show is excited to host textile artist and maker Isabel Fletcher and her innovative textile waste workshop. Join us right here in the middle of the Craft Show exhibition and make your very own wall-hanging.
Isabel will teach you how textile waste can be used as the starting point for creative textile design, rather than simply viewing it as an endpoint. The appliqué, quilting and embroidery techniques taught will culminate in each participant making a unique hand sewn wall hanging using the participant’s own collection of fabric scraps. Participants are encouraged to bring their own fabric offcuts to make the Wall-hanging even more personal, but Isabel will also provide a selection of suitable materials.
Isabel will give an introduction to her practice and provide guidance on how considered placement, shape, colour, and stitch can be combined to create a contemporary wall hanging from textile waste. There will be optional bases to appliqué directly onto, or for the more experienced sewers, they are welcome to piece together materials to create a quilted base.
This workshop is suitable for both complete beginners and those with sewing experience.
