4 week wheel throwing course for beginners with Ania Perkowska

This course covers introduction to wheel throwing and making handles for beginners.

Throughout the course the students will be taught to throw a simple cylinder, shown how to trim pots and attach handles.

At the end of the course the students will have a mug or a cup which can then be painted in the painting session to make a usable, food safe object.

Cost: £220 inclusive of all materials and bisque firings.

Course Dates:

Course 1:

Dates: Jan 19th, 26th, Feb 2nd, 9th.

Course 2:

Dates: Feb 16th, 23rd, March 2nd, 9th.

Course 3:

Dates: March 16th, 23rd, March 30th, April 6th.

Time: 6.30-8.30pm

Week 1

Introduction to throwing on the wheel

Week 2

Clay preparation and throwing cylinders

Week 3

Introduction to turning and surface decoration

Week 4

Making handles and finishing the mugs

After completing the course, the finished mugs will be fired to bisque.*

They will be ready for collection 3 weeks after the end of the course.

*IMPORTANT - bisque mugs are not waterproof

Optional Painting Session

Students have the option to paint and glaze their own mugs made during this course.

Glazing adds colour and makes mugs waterproof and food safe, perfect to use for drinks.
