Tuition: $91 Materials: $100
Ely folks know there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. Beaver hats are just the answer for those deep wind chills, which Bert and Mark can attest to. Learn how to make a hat with a fur gauntlet and will learn how to measure, cut and sew pattern pieces from beaver hide. You will receive instructions for adding the liner, where needed, at home using glue and hand stitching. Students should bring the material of their choice for the liner.
One of the Ely Folk School's most popular classes, don't miss the chance to make your own essential cold weather accessory.
About the instructors: Bert Hyde and Mark Olson are skilled woodsmen who have experienced a lot of cold weather, undaunted. They are long-time friends, do-it-yourselfers, and Ely Folk School instructors and supporters, who get a kick out of showing other people how to do cool things.
