About this Event
Makana Live at Waikīkī Community Center

Join us at the Waikīkī Community Center on Saturday, March 28 for a very special day with acclaimed Hawaiian slack key master Makana. With two intimate performances—a 3:00 PM matinee and a 6:00 PM early evening show—these are Makana’s only appearances on Oʻahu. We are honored to welcome him for this special engagement created especially for our community.

3:00 PM – Makana: An Afternoon of Songs & Stories
6:00 PM – Makana: An Evening of Songs & Stories

Rooted in all things Hawaiian and shaped by his deep kumu (teacher, mentor) lineage, Makana weaves together mele (songs, chants) and moʻolelo (stories, history) through masterful slack key tunings. Blending beloved classics with new and unreleased works, he creates an uplifting and deeply personal musical journey. In our intimate Waikīkī setting, audiences will experience the artistry, storytelling, and cultural depth that have made him one of Hawaiʻi’s most celebrated musicians.

Art Patron Seating – $45

For those who wish to support the arts at a higher level, our Art Patron ticket ($45) offers seating in the first two rows closest to the stage, providing an enhanced, up-close concert experience.

The Waikīkī Community Center is a private nonprofit organization serving our keiki (children), kupuna (elders), and community since 1979. This special concert is presented for our community and supported in part by the HTA Kūkulu Ola Project, helping to bring and perpetuate Hawaiian culture throughout our islands.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience Makana up close in Waikīkī. It’s going to be an unforgettable afternoon and evening of music with a stellar artist—come ready to connect, celebrate, and enjoy a beautiful shared experience.

Seating is Communal & First Come, First Served (except designated Art Patron rows).
All ticket sales are final and nonrefundable.
Parking is available for both shows.
