Meet stone masons from the UK, France and the Netherlands as they carve fantastic creatures from blocks of Maison Dieu stone. Have a go at stone carving and stone rubbing. Learn about Kent’s incredible geology and exciting plans for the Cross-Channel Geopark. Add to our chalk graffiti wall and create colourful raku-fired gargoyles and grotesques.
With live music and visits to other local sites including St Edmund’s Chapel and St Mary’s Church. The winners of the carve-off will be announced at 1pm on Mon 25 May.
Free drop-in event. No need to book. Suitable for all ages. Refreshments available.
Organised by the Maison Dieu and Cats Eye Carving in partnership with the Kent Downs National Landscape and Cross-Channel Geopark, English Heritage, Dover Museum, Future Foundry, Ceramic Art Dover, the Kent Mining Museum, St Mary's Church, St Edmund's Chapel and a host of local partners.
