The first annual Maifest at the Des Moines Biergarten is a family celebration of spring and the start of a new season. The event includes a day full of music including Maipole dancing performances from the Amana Maipole Dancers, as well as kids activities, contests, food vendors and of course your favorite German biers.

Think of Maifest as Oktoberfest in the spring. It’s a traditional German celebration of the arrival of warmer weather, complete with a maipole and dancing — brought to life by the Amana Maipole Dancers. For the Biergarten, it also kicks off our official season opening.
This is a celebration for everyone: steins of great bier, live music, more food options than ever, and classic yard games, all set in the park we love.
The event is free and open to all.
