About this Event
Our season closes with Mountains by Canadian composer Michael Conway Baker, an evocative and expansive work that captures both the majesty and mystery of the natural world. The first half of the program will be conducted by former WCSO conductor Clyde Mitchell, joined by his wife, piccolo soloist Sarah Jackson*, who takes the spotlight in Lowell Liebermann’s Piccolo Concerto, a dazzling display of agility, colour, and spirit.
The finale belongs to Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1, “The Titan”, conducted by our Principal Conductor Bujar Llapaj—a monumental journey from the first stirrings of spring to a triumphant, blazing conclusion, and the perfect farewell to a season of unforgettable music.
Program:
Michael Conway Baker: Mountains
Liebermann: Piccolo Concerto, Op. 50*
Mahler: Symphony No. 1 in D major, "The Titan"
