Play mahjong, the popular Chinese tile game, at AMOCA! We’ll set up tables near Gallery A, where "Fired in Revolution: Ceramics from the People’s Republic of China" is on view. This exhibition presents ceramics created during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976)—a period of social, cultural, and economic upheaval caused by radical government ideology.
AMOCA invites you to join us for game play in the shadow of Cultural Revolution ceramics. Executive Director–and amateur mahjong player–Beth Ann Gerstein will welcome guests and offer a brief introduction to Cultural Revolution ceramic production before game play begins.
Don’t know how to play mahjong? Bring your curiosity, and a group of local mahjong players will teach you! Already know how to play? Bring your expertise and join the fun!
