Mahjong 101: Beginnners - No Experience Required
Discover the game everyone is talking about. Mahjong 101 is a relaxed two-hour introduction designed for absolute beginners. Learn the fundamentals of American Mahjong in a guided, hands-on format as you team up with fellow players at your table. You will leave with a helpful takeaway guide, fresh skills, and a new obsession! Come curious, leave ready to call Mahjong!

Open Play: Independent American Mahjong Gameplay
Already know how to play? Join our Open Play tables running alongside Mahjong 101. This option is perfect for players who want casual, independent gameplay without instruction.
Enjoy a relaxed setting with full use of Mahjong sets. Bring your 2025 NMJL Card if you have one - if not, we will have some available to use. Players will be seated by self-selected skill level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) to keep games fun and evenly matched. Come solo or bring friends!
Please note: This session is designed for players familiar with American Mahjong (the traditional four-player tile game). It is not the solo digital “matching” game often seen in app stores or on TikTok. Participants should be comfortable with the rules, Charleston, and reading the NMJL card. If you’re new to the game, please join us for a Mahj 101 class first.
Open Play sessions require a minimum of four participants to run. If fewer than four are registered, we will contact you with the option to transfer to a future session or receive a full refund.
