About this Event
St John’s has a remarkable collection of late medieval liturgical vestments and embroidery. The textiles are some of the finest surviving examples of their kind in England and include a rare set of vestments for the pre-Reformation High Mass.
Dr Malcolm Vale, eminent historian and specialist in the culture of late medieval northern Europe, will tell the story of the College’s textile collection in a lecture entitled 'A continuous - but nearly broken - thread: the story of the St John's textile collection'.
