About this Event
Welcome to the Magnificat Meal-December event! Join us at St. Elizabeth Seton's Catholic Church for a day filled with delicious food, great company, and uplifting conversations. Come and gather with men and women from all over the valley, as we gather to share this meal, sing, pray & hear the testimony of one person who will tell how God has worked in their life. In this way, we MAGNIFY the name of the Lord & honor Our Blessed Mother.
For this meal come hear Barbara Rayes-Barnett. Barabar is a wife, mother, musician, translator, and teacher. Currently, she and her husband own a small production company, work as entertainers, and support Catholic and pro-life causes through their monthly open mic, the St. Cecilia Circle. Barbara also spent a career in linguistics at the children’s hospital, a refugee agency, and in the community college system.
Barbara was welcomed into the church choir at the age of 12, Barbara began music ministry, along with her parents and five siblings. She spent decades singing, playing the guitar and flute at Mass, each time praying, “God please play through me and touch each person with your love.” At the age of 18, Barbara began tending to the needs of homeless people she met on the road, determined to respond with practical resources and prayer. At the same time, she began picketing and praying in front of abortion businesses. Asking God to work through her to bring mercy and love to those most in need, Barbara gratefully believes He has.
During her testimony, Barbara will talk about her experience of God's love, revealed to her in the everyday ways, including the Sacraments, the Bible, prayer, Adoration, family, friends, ministry, and the many people met along the road.
Please, bring a friend, a neighbor, or maybe a relative who doesn't go to church anymore. They may not go to church with you, but who doesn't love to go out for lunch? Magnificat is often a way back to the Church. Dress is nice, casual.
