About this Event
Join Maggie and a talented group of writers as they share their chilling, albeit hastily-written, tales. Before you arrive, the writers are given 60 minutes to craft their own completely original scary stories. When the clock strikes 8:30 PM, each writer will read their story aloud and you will vote for your favorite. Some may make you laugh, others will chill you to the bone, but all will draw you deeper into the shadows of the night. In the end, there can only be one winner.

Comedian Maggie Olmsted (The New Yorker, NYCF) hosts and produces this annual event showcasing scary stories written by some of the best comedians, journalists, poets, and playwrights in Brooklyn.
In its 2nd year, Maggie's Scary Story Contest has moved out of Maggie's backyard and promises to be bigger and better than ever.
About Tradesman:
Opened in 2012 and steadily going since, Tradesman provides a pleasant place to have a drink in the neighborhood. With a Large Patio making Safe COVID practices easy and stress free we are a neighborhood staple. Its a great afterwork stop off or date night hang.

Our interior, designed by owners Larissa Varges & Mark Gregor in collaboration with Widger Manufacturing, reflects our love for skilled Tradesman that seems forgotten today. The space makes use of existing materials found when we arrived and items well loved and collected. The back bar and the end walls make use of wooden foundry mould parts, the bar is made from white oak and the taps crafted from pipe fittings. For upholstery we used packing blankets and our table tops are old workshop tables. Enjoy the atmosphere
