Madhavan Geetam brings together a multigenerational and multicultural ensemble of artists to explore the originality, beauty and depth that is offered by Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music. The repertoire will be composed of age-old compositions of the great composers of South India (such as Thyagaraja, Swati Tirunal), given shape and form by a number of dancers led by Vaishali Koushik of Laaya Rhythmic Arts and Himabindu Vankayala SageetaMaruti Arts Academy (with support from my wife Anuradha Rao and daughter Shantaleela Rao Andrews!!!). Of special note in this program are several compositions that feature the poetry of the late Variath Madhavan Kutty and the music of Vidyasagar Vankayala. Madhavan-ji was a great supporter and inspiration to many of the artists in this program and this will be a fitting tribute to his legacy and memory.
