About this Event
About This Event
Historic buildings do more than anchor our sense of place, they create the backdrop for many of the cultural and creative experiences we value most. From performance and exhibition spaces to workshops and creative enterprises, countless artistic ventures thrive within heritage settings.
These spaces not only enrich our cultural life but also offer unique opportunities for creative industries seeking characterful, flexible environments in which to grow. This day event in Sheffield explores how heritage sites and creative sectors across the UK can support one another.
The programme for the day includes:
- Presentations and discussions on turning historic sites into creative spaces, including talks from Portland Works, Harmony Works and S1 Artspace.
- A workshop with Richard Butterfield, Partnership Team Leader, Historic England who will discuss Historic England’s research on reimagining historic spaces for creative use, drawing on insights from Heritage Works for Creative Industries.
- A guided walking tour of Sheffield City Centre, exploring heritage sites and examples of creative reuse.
This event will bring together not-for-profit community, cultural, creative and heritage organisations, as well as Heritage Development Trusts, from across the UK . It is an opportunity to exchange ideas, gain insights, and learn peers working on projects, sites, and organisations like yours. Join the conversation, share your challenges and successes, and be part of A Creative Future for Historic Spaces.
