This class provides a hands-on learning environment to get your head around foundational photographic principles as well as YOUR cameras settings, with Macro photography in mind!
The class begins in a relaxed and comfortable indoor learning environment with no more than 6 participants. Later in the day, the group will step out into the field on a short field trip, to solidify their skills IN THE FIELD and with live specimens (no spiders, I promise!).
This class is suitable for beginners and those who need a refresher on all things photography or have gaps in knowledge when wanting to 'shoot' something, but not quite being able to get the shot seen in the mind’s eye.

** WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? **
- How to navigate YOUR photographic equipment and best understand its Menu options and features for best outcomes in-field.
- How your camera captures an image, so as you know what settings control what outcomes and why (Exposure triangle).
- How to navigate shooting modes focusing on Aperture, Shutter speed, ISO as well as in-built modes such as Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority.
- Navigate focusing options in various situations
- Understand exposure controls, light metering and exposure compensation (what does your histogram ‘actually’ show? and what does ‘correctly exposed’ really mean?).
- Understand light! - natural light, flash lighting, white balance and in-field things to look for relating to light and why they matter.
- Concepts behind composition and how to use it effectively
- An overview of why to edit and what software is available.
- Learn ‘best practice’ and processes for looking after your equipment.
