About this Event
Learn how to unlock the world of macro photography and it’s endless potential for creative expression in this hands-on guided workshop. Instructor Mike Vraneža will review and demonstrates the specialized equipment, techniques, and software you’ll need to capture microscopic detail in everything from flowers to insects to jewelry and more. With access to Pro Photo’s extensive macro lens, lighting, and camera support gear included in the course, you’ll have a chance to test some of the best equipment for macro photography. You’ll capture your own unique images in a controlled studio environment with Mike as your guide, and learn how to apply these techniques in the field.
What you should bring:
- Your camera, preferably a mirrorless or DSLR camera, and a tripod (we will have a few extras on hand, but recommend using your own)
- Any other macro gear you may have (lenses, extension tubes, macro ring light, etc)
- Charged batteries
- Memory card(s)
- Any small subject matter you might want to photograph
What we’ll have for you to try:
- Leading macro lenses from major camera manufacturers
- Macro extension tubes
- Studio lighting
- Tabletop set materials for rigging and backdrops

ABOUT MIKE VRANEZA
Nearly 20 years ago, Mike Vraneža took what was then a hobby, went back to art school, and jumped into the deep end… What started as a passion for photography and curiosity for the world turned into an ever-evolving career with countless commercial photography and video assignments that have spanned the continent, shooting an immense range of assignments along the way. With over 10 years of teaching experience at both the workshop and college level, he has helped countless students take their photography to the next level. He brings an enthusiasm for photography to the classroom with a conversational teaching style meant to empower students in their visual arts journey. Mike has extensive experience working at the macro scale, both in commercial and personal work, in the field, and in creating staged tabletop sets.

This multi-part workshop is limited to 15 spots with a minimum of 5 registered attendees needed. In the event the minimum isn't met, the session will be canceled and registered attendees will receive full refunds.
