An immersive introduction to Shakespeare’s tragic tale of ambition, murder, and voices from beyond the grave. This is a workshop for everyone. It doesn’t matter if acting isn’t usually your thing, or if this will be your first encounter with a Shakespeare play: this is all about getting to know a great story, having fun and trying new skills, working together as a cast and putting together a play in just a day!
Work with two professional actors in this friendly and inclusive workshop.
Get to know the story of Macbeth, cast the characters, prepare and direct scenes, experiment with Shakespearean language, brush up your performance skills, learn stage fighting and choreograph scenes, get into costume and rehearse.
At the end we’ll perform our version of Macbeth to a private audience of friends and family.
We are not aiming for a perfect final piece but rather to share the joy and sense of achievement in putting on a show together in such a short space of time, and for children to leave us feeling confident and enthusiastic about Shakespeare’s work.
Reading ability is required, but no line-learning.
Please bring a packed lunch (no nuts please) and a drink.
Age guide 8-14yrs. £28 per person (20% sibling discount).
SAFEGUARDING POLICY
Treehouse Theatre provides educational entertainment rather than child care, so parents (or their designated responsible adult) remain responsible for their children at all times, and we expect parents to stay either in the hall or very close by. We have access to a kitchen for tea and coffee, and will create a space where you can chat so that conversations don’t disturb the workshop.
If you leave the premises you must tell our team and ensure you have left a phone number we can contact you on, and let us know who your designated responsible adult is, in your absence. Please don’t leave children who may need your support to access the workshop. Children under 12 may not be left without a designated responsible adult. We do not provide child care and do not accept responsibility for children.
All Treehouse actors have a current DBS certificate which can be seen, and follow Equity’s guidelines for working with young people.
