About this Event
This is definitely one brand that doesn’t need an introduction! You’ve probably heard of Macallan before, one of the highest selling single malts in the world.
Located in the Speyside region of Scotland, the Macallan distillery started in 1824 -- making it one of the first legally licensed distilleries in Scotland. Originally the single malt whisky was matured exclusively in sherry casks, today they also age whisky in ex-bourbon casks.
We’ll start the evening with a cocktail featuring Macallan 12 Year, showcasing that good whisky makes for good cocktails!
Then we’ll taste three additional expressions of Macallan:
- 15 Year Old Double Cask - aged in sherry-seasoned oak casks for 15 years and bottled at 43%, this whisky has a nose of butterscotch and plump raisin, with spiced apple crumble and oak spice; and a palate of dried fruits with a dusting of cinnamon, candied ginger, and orange peel.
- The Macallan Harmony III “Amber Meadows” - aged in sherry-seasoned oak and bourbon casks and bottled at 44.2%, this whisky has a nose of rich orange and lemon, honeysuckle, vanilla, coconut, and ripe barley fields; with a palate of rich oak, lemon, melon, classic scone, almond, and green tea.
- The Macallan Rare Cask - aged in sherry-seasoned casks selected for a particularly complex, sherry-forward character and bottled at 43%, this whisky has a nose of soft vanilla with rich raisin, fresh apple, lemon, and orange; and a palate of intense sweet raisin, vanilla, and dark chocolate with layers of light citrus zest.
Guiding our whisky tasting for us will be Macallan Brand Specialist Mark Boyle. We’ll also have light appetizers and bites to munch on.
