About this Event

Join Black Mountain Meditation for an afternoon of meditation, workshops and autumnal picnicking in the tranquil grounds of Sydenham Garden.

Mabon is a name for the autumn equinox, the time of year when just for a moment the sun is directly above the equinox and days and nights are of equal length. Gathering together at Mabon is a way of celebrating the turning of the season, connecting deeply with time, and sharing the abundance of early Autumn.

We will gather at 12pm, Sydenham Garden, 28A Wynell Rd, London SE23 2LW. The event runs until 4pm.

Tickets are costed on a sliding scale:

Guided meditation and awareness practice will be an important part of our celebration, with an emphasis on connecting to our senses. At 1pm we will have a picnic together with everybody who wishes to bringing some vegan food to share.

Throughout, we will be using carefully taught practices drawn from the Buddhist tradition. With these practices as our anchor we will co-create a ritual to mark this passage of time. This will include meditation walks and a workshop in which we each discover and paint a unique calligraphic mark or shape that we can take home with us as a memento, and to carry inspiration as we progress through the season.

Black Mountain Meditation is a community-based collective interested in bringing Buddhist meditation practice into a variety of innovative environments. We feel an especial kinship with the Celtic calendar, we have been quietly making our own rituals for some time and are delighted to be able to make our first public event that celebrates this turning of the year.
