The Sunday Lunch train departs 12.30pm and finishes at approximately 2.30pm. During the journey your meal will be served at a reserved table, with a bar on board where you can purchase alcoholic or soft drinks. Join us at the East Somerset Railway for a day steeped in Britain's Railway Heritage. Take unlimited train rides through the Somerset countryside along our 2.5 miles of track from our main station at Cranmore to Mendip Vale Station where you can watch the locomotive turn. Explore our history through the David Shepherd Discovery Centre, the museum and ticket office, then take a walk to our engine shed where you can see the work being carried out by our volunteers and check out the locomotives not in steam. Throughout your visit, our knowledgeable volunteers will be on hand to help you with any queries.
The Mendip Belle Sunday Lunch is a three course plated meal*, taken on board our beautiful steam train. Seating is in booths of 4 seats but if there are only two attending, never fear, you will not have to share seats with others, you can enjoy your meal privately!
Main meals have a choice of various meats and a vegetarian option on each course. If you have any specific allergy requirements, please contact us for more details. If possible we try to accommodate everyone. For the Sunday Lunch menu and Wine List please see below.
We ask you to advise us of your menu choices at least 14 days before the event, either by emailing your choices to [email protected], or by giving us a call on 01749 880417. Your dining train will depart at 12.30pm so please arrive at 12.00 noon so we can get you settled before departure. Your meal will be served over several journeys and there may be pauses in the journeys to allow for the smoother serving of food. Also, your ticket includes a day rover, which means you are more than welcome to ride the earlier or later trains, look around our Engine Shed and Workshop, small museum on the platform and our shop and café will be open.
