OHA is proud to host this year's Lā Kūkahekahe Hawaiian Language event on Pepeluali 14 on the second floor at Nā Lama Kukui.This event is in celebration of Hawaiian language month and open to all levels of Hawaiian language speakers. Practice and learn through meaningful conversation, friendly competitions, live music, games, and Hawaiian food.
Speech competitions will be held in four categories:
• Haʻi ʻŌlelo Hoʻopaʻanaʻau – Memorized Speech
• Haʻi ʻŌlelo Uluwale – Impromptu Speech
• Paio Kālai Manaʻo – Debate
• Haku Mele – Music Composition (submission details are online)
Students from kula waena (middle school) up to kula nui (college) and mākua and kūpuna also, are all welcome to compete.

Lā Kūkahekahe is coordinated in partnership with ʻAhahui ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi, Aha Punana Leo, Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement, Kui Leo Hawai'i, Kanaeokana, and Kāhuli Leo Leʻa.
