The beach cities of the Barony of Lyondemere invite you to escape the summer heat and join Gareth and Alatiel, Baron and Baroness, at the beach to celebrate our 48th Anniversary! While our current understanding of a “beach day” is based in 19th century leisure activities, many of our global ancestors found time to relax and play along the many bodies of water found around the world, from the lakes and rivers of medieval Europe to the seasides of ancient Rome to the oceans of the seafaring cultures of the Pasifika.
Celebrate with us in the cooler beach weather of Lyondemere as we choose our champions in Arts and Sciences, Heavy Armored Combat, Rapier, and Cut and Thrust combat.

8 AM - Site Open
10 AM - Opening Court, or at their Excellencies’ pleasure
4 PM - Closing Court, or at their Excellencies’ pleasure
5 PM - Site Closes
REGISTRATION INFORMATION: $25 Adult Event Registration, $15 Adult Member Discount Event Registration (with proof of membership). Children 16 and under are guests of the Barony. Please bring cash or make checks payable to “SCA, Inc./Barony of Lyondemere.”
COMBAT and ARTS COMPETITIONS: Our Arts and Science competition is beach themed! Bring your best entries incorporating beach colors, aquatic motifs or ingredients, or materials found along the shore. The winners will be People’s Choice - feel free to bring your own token to vote for your favorite, or use one of our glass beads to make your vote. Bardic and edible entries are welcome!
For our Rapier and Cut and Thrust tournaments - in most popular depictions, seafaring swordfighters (more commonly known as pirates) are depicted with missing body parts, so this will be a “wounds retained” tournament where “injuries” from previous rounds are carried over to the next bouts. Details on our heavy armored combat are TBD as we work on new ideas.
SITE INFORMATION: Parking will be available onsite. Pavilions and day shades are welcome, and you may stake to the ground as necessary. You may drive on the grass to unload, however please do not get your vehicle stuck in the grass when unloading.
Merchants are welcome, please email the event steward to make arrangements. Please also email the event steward for list space reservations if you would like to be up front. There will be plenty of open space for pavilions without reservations as well.

DIRECTIONS: Take your favorite route to the 405 in Torrance (south of 405/105 and north of 405/110).
From the north, exit CA-107S Hawthorne Blvd (exit 42A). Continue south on Hawthorne for 2.5 miles. Turn right on Del Amo Blvd, and in half a mile, turn left on Anza Ave. In 2.2 miles, turn right on Calle Mayor. The school will be on your left in 0.3 miles. Enter the first driveway and proceed through the gates to the left.
From the south, take exit 39 for Crenshaw Blvd. Turn left onto 182nd St, then in 400 feet turn left onto Crenshaw Blvd for 1.3 miles. Turn right onto Del Amo Blvd for 2 miles, then turn left onto Anza Ave. In 2.2 miles, turn right on Calle Mayor. The school will be on your left in 0.3 miles. Enter the first driveway and proceed through the gates to the left.
