Luís Vicente's quartet consciously breaks with conventional song structures. Together, the quartet frees itself from tonal boundaries, rhythmic guidelines and harmonic rules and creates the driving sound of a musical ritual. The compositional inspiration comes largely from Ornette Coleman's Harmolodics concept, in which harmony, sound movement and melody have equal importance.
