About this Event
The population of Luton tripled in the 1930s with the expansion of the town's industrial base. That, along with the abandonment of the small tram system and the subsequent improvements to George Street, caused alterations to the general character of the town.Accompanied by a resurgence of civic pride this resulted in the construction of several buildings in the then fashionable Art Deco, or more accurately Moderne, style. The speaker will be most happy to take questions which may well trigger further memories.
