Join us for an evening of books, conversation, and community at our Lusophone Book Club.
Here at Good Company, we are passionate about translations, especially of Lusophone authors. That's why we wanted to start this book club to further our community by exploring the multicultural literary traditions and the beauty of the Portuguese language. Please note, this event will be hosted in English, but readers are welcome to read in both the Portuguese original, and the English translation
Book of the Month
This month, we'll be reading The Return by Dulce Maria Cardoso.
About the Book: A powerful coming-of-age story, set against the violent backdrop of decolonisation and the return to an old homeland.
Get Your Copy: Readers are welcome to read in both the Portuguese original and the English translation, allowing for a dynamic discussion that encompasses not only the book's themes but also translation as a topic in itself. Copies of the English translation are available for purchase both in-store and . If you would like to read it in Portuguese, we encourage you to visit one of the many wonderful independent bookstores around Lisbon.

The Venue
Good Company Books is an independent English Bookstore in Lisbon. Born from our love of global literature and our Portuguese heritage, we are crafting a space for people of all backgrounds to gather and enjoy the best books, events, coffee, and wine.
How To Find Us
By Metro: We're situated a 5-minute walk from the Campo Pequeno metro (Yellow line) and a 10-minute walk from the Alameda metro (Green & Red lines).
By Bus: There are many convenient bus options 2 blocks away from us on Avenida República, with the closest stop to our store being Campo Pequeno-Av. Republica.
By Bike: If you're using the Gira public bicycles, there is a docking station right across the street (#431 - Rua do Arco Cego / Av. Magalhães Lima).
By Car: There is a paid parking lot across the street, between Rua Arco do Cego and Rua Dona Filipa de Vilhena. Street parking is also available around the neighborhood.
