Join us for a FREE, and open to the West TN community, evening of French Classics by Memphis' own Luna Nova Music at Jackson State Community College's Ayers Auditorium during the college's "Arts Week."
Music will include classics dating back to the 1800's performed by the renowned artist of the Luna Music ensemble that has performed over 400 concerts at home in Memphis and around the country. Its focus is masterworks of the last 150 years as well as new works by emerging contemporary composers.
Performers include:
-Charles Lewis earned a Bachelor in Flute Performance from the University of Tennessee at Martin and a Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Memphis. He has over 30 years of teaching, performing, and adjudicating experience in West Tennessee, Western Kentucky and throughout the country. Mr. Lewis is currently a Lecturer of Music and Flute Instructor at the University of Tennessee at Martin. In addition to his UT Martin teaching, Mr. Lewis maintains a private flute studio in Martin. His primary flute teachers include Bruce Erskine, Julius Baker and Phyllis Taylor Sparks.
-Robert G. Patterson lives in Memphis, Tennessee. His music is infused with the popular rhythms
and melodic fragments around him, and these provide source material for his personal voice. A student of George Crumb and Don Freund, he is a resident composer with the Luna Nova Ensemble and recent accomplishments include commissions from the International Horn Society, the One Coin Concert series in Osaka, Japan, and First Prize in the NATS Art Song Composition Award. In addition to his musical activities, Patterson also has been a professional software developer, and
his interest in computers led him to become an expert in musical engraving using a computer. His Patterson Plug-Ins Collection for Finale software has been a staple of composers and copyists worldwide.
-Brian Ray received his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Tennessee at Martin; he received both his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Memphis where he studied with Joan Gilbert. An active soloist and chamber musician, Ray is also an adjudicator. Ray isc urrently an adjunct instructor of piano and the departmental collaborative pianist
at Rhodes College.

with international acclaim throughout North America and Europe. Dr. Warren has been a guest artist with the Festival Durance Luberon in France, the Eutiner Festspiele in Germany, the Deutsche-Amerikan Musik Fest in Germany, and the Differdange International Festival in Luxembourg.
