About this Event

Lumière de l’Aube – A Sacred Artistic Sanctuary for Mu’min Women

Lumière de l’Aube (Light at Dawn) is not just an art mastery course, it’s a sacred retreat and sanctuary exclusively for Mu’min women. What sets us apart is our holistic approach to the artistic process, where each stroke of the brush is treated as an act of ibadah, an opportunity to deepen both your craft and your connection with Allah.

Our unique atelier offers a romanticized, intimate, quiet environment that integrates prayer and reflection, cultivating mindfulness (taqwa) in every artistic endeavor. We specialize in photo-surrealism and other fine arts techniques, blending traditional craftsmanship with the beauty of the unseen. Through advanced techniques like natural layering, archival glazing, and handmade color mixing with earth pigments, our students not only refine their artistic abilities but also experience the spiritual fulfillment of creating with intention.

At Lumière de l’Aube, we believe that art is more than just creation — it’s a journey back to Allahs mercy through mindfulness and purpose. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just beginning, our catered ateliers nurtures both your creativity and your soul, guiding you toward a deeper understanding of beauty, discipline, and mercy.

Join us for an artistic experience that transcends the canvas, where the practice of art becomes an act of spiritual devotion.

Who is A Mu’minah?

With a heart worn by the noise of the dunya and a soul yearning for nearness, the Mu’minah turns inward — not in weakness, but in worship. Her niyyah is simple, yet profound: to seek Allah as a refuge when the world feels heavy, to find beauty in quiet moments, and to remember that peace (sakinah) is a gift only He can give.
She does not chase distraction, nor numb her pain with what is fleeting. Instead, she makes her stillness an act of ibadah, her tears a silent duʿāʾ, and her search for calm a path to the One who hears and heals. Her intention is not escape, but return — to her fitrah, to her Lord, and to the light that dawns after darkness.

What You’ll Walk Away With

This isn’t a drop-in art class. It’s a cultivated journey — one that rewards consistency with mastery. If you choose to return, to grow here over time, you’ll find both your hand and your heart transforming. With the purchase of a weekly pass you’ll walk away with a complete set of Tasfir Ibn Kathir. Materials for proper Tasfir reflection are available for rent with our single atelier.

Start off with a luxurious dining experience where we gather as a group and read softly a page of Tasfir ibn Kathir. The goal by the end of the 3 moth summer to finish the entire series so each morning each women will read 3 pages aloud in a group to complete our 48 for the day. We take a moment to reflect in our wellness journals for as long as your heart desires. Sometimes the weight is heavier one day to another. Then I assist you by discussing your inspiration for the start of your painting journey. We start at your pace and end at your pace. I couldn’t decide at first whether or not to host multiple classes per day. However after some reflection I decided to make it a anomaly. How many places do we have as women where we can feel like women, be unrushed, unhurried, immersed in the remembrance of Allah? Too few and far in between.

To protect this moment of peace no woman under the age of 15 years old is allowed.

By the end of this 3 Month course, long-term students can expect to:

  • Finish reading the entire Tasfir Ibn Kathir Collection insha’Allah with sincerity
  • Build a disciplined foundation in classical oil painting, including how to mix color, handle a brush with intention, and render form and light with accuracy.
  • Develop an eye for composition and proportion, training yourself to see subtleties that most overlook — a skill that refines not just your art, but your presence.
  • Strengthen your creative patience, learning the rhythm of slow work, silent progress, and the beauty that comes from trusting the process.
  • Create finished paintings rooted in timeless technique — the kind of work that speaks of care, study, and reverence.
  • Deepen your sense of khushūʿ, not just in prayer but in your practice — learning how to sit with yourself, your thoughts, and your tools in stillness.
  • Learn to observe Allah’s creation with more awe, translating that awe into something tangible, something beautiful, something offered back to Him.

The more you give to this course, the more it will give back — not just in what you produce, but in who you become.

The Investment of Presence

This class is not a transaction — it is a sacred offering of your time, your heart, and your intention. And with Allah, no moment spent in remembrance is lost.

To spend time in a space that nourishes both your spiritual state and your artistic expression is a form of ibādah when the niyyah is correct. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“There is no envy except in two: a person whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously, and a person whom Allah has given wisdom and he judges and teaches with it.”

— [Bukhārī, 1409; Muslim, 816]

Here, wisdom includes insight — the kind that grows through reflection, beauty, and patience. Painting in presence, in remembrance, in silence, or even in soft dhikr — these moments hold the potential to soften the heart and sharpen the eye. You will leave with more than technique. You will leave with basīrah — a deeper way of seeing.

The artistry you build here is not ornamental. It’s rooted. Classical oil painting demands observation, deliberation, and reverence for detail — all of which echo the virtues we strive to cultivate as Muslims: sabr, ihsān, khushūʿ.

The Qur’an tells us:

“And whoever comes [on the Day of Judgment] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit]…”

— [Sūrat al-Anʿām, 6:160]

Imagine what that means for every moment spent striving for Allah’s pleasure in this space — through intention, through focus, through creating something that draws the heart closer to Him. Even stillness can be written as worship if it’s done mindfully.

This course is a small sanctuary. A place where the eye is trained in beauty and the soul in humility. May your time here be written among your deeds, and may Allah make it heavy on your scale.

Let your hands remember, your eyes witness, and your heart return.

Guarding the Prayer Together

This space is not merely for painting — it’s for presence. And the greatest form of presence is to stand before our Lord in ṣalāh.

Each session is scheduled to fall between the prescribed prayer times, in keeping with the Sunnah — giving every sister time to return home and perform her ṣalāh with tranquility, not haste. However, before we part ways, I warmly encourage you to join me in praying the sunnah prayers together, right here — a moment of collective stillness before the dispersal.

Bring your prayer mat, especially if you prefer the blessing of praying on the earth. The Prophet ﷺ said:

“The earth has been made for me a place of prostration and a means of purification.”

— [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, 335]

And remember the noble hadith:

“The most beloved of deeds to Allah is the prayer at its proper time.”

— [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, 85]

May Allah allow us to leave this gathering not only with beauty on our canvases, but light on our faces, having prayed in congregation, in remembrance, and in love for the One who gathered us.

A Table Set by His Mercy

There’s something sacred about gathering with intention — to reflect, to create, to remember. This course is designed to stir the heart through every sense, reminding us that beauty and nourishment are both from the hands of Ar-Razzāq.

Each session opens with a Florentine-style brunch — rustic, seasonal, and soul-warming. Breads torn by hand, herbs still fragrant from the earth, decadent desserts, and a filling and rich main course. It’s not extravagant, but it is exquisite. A quiet nod to the kind of provision that makes you say Alhamdulillāh. We Nourish our Noor and our bodies helping to promote healthy eating habits, and a culture of body positivity.

And then there’s the tea.

Each blend begins with a Bellocq base — refined, rare, and full of depth — and from there, the rest remains a surprise. Some cups uplift, others soothe. Some arrive like a walk through a garden, others linger like a memory. You won’t know until you taste it. And that’s the point — to be present, curious, receptive.

This isn’t about luxury for its own sake. It’s about beauty that pulls you inward. Presence that doesn’t demand attention but invites reflection. Because even in these small, quiet pleasures — there is worship. There is nearness. There is gratitude.

May every bite, every sip, and every stroke of the brush return us to the One who gave it all.

Meet Your Instructor

As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullähi wa barakätuh,

My name is Tazkiyah Al-Qalb, and this space exists because I needed it too — a place to create, to reflect, and to remember Allah without performance or noise.

I accepted Islam during the last ten nights of Ramadan 2024. I didn’t come to it with hesitation – I already knew it was the truth. But what changed me was seeing the steadfastness of our brothers and sisters in Palestine. Their strength in the face of brutality, their clarity, their certainty in Allah – it made me examine my own life and what I was truly committed to. Who would I stand with on the Day when fear strips away all illusions?

I didn’t want to live on the sidelines of this dīn.

I am a certified oil painter with formal training in fine art, visual drawing, digital photography, and design. My background in fashion business taught me precision and composition – but what gives my work depth is what came after: embracing Islam, and learning to see creation through the lens of tawhid.

I’ve been immersed in the arts since childhood, but it wasn’t until I began practicing Islam that I understood what creative expression could truly be. Not vanity. Not escapism. But tafakkur – reflection. A way of turning inward while remembering the One who fashioned the skies and the soul.

This is why I don’t teach art the way I was taught. I teach from presence – not performance. My sessions are anchored in Qur’anic reflection, not trends. Before I teach others to observe the world with an artist’s eye, I ask: Do we observe it with a believing heart?

I’m currently studying Tafsir Ibn Kathir and memorizing the Qur’an, biidhnilläh, to become a hafizah. Not because I need a title, but because I want to fulfill the reason I was given a voice – to recite the speech of Allah with khushu and conviction. I conduct silent and reflective events in order to help create the pause needed in such a loud world. I choose to fast my speech for the sake of Allah during these moments of Stillness in order to reflect on His mercy. Alhamdulillâh, there is nothing more beneficial than pondering the words of Allah, so let His words reguvinate your heart every morning.

What qualifies me to teach isn’t only technique — it’s the way I live this practice. I don’t bring students into a space I haven’t already entered myself. This course reflects the rhythm of my own spiritual healing: quiet mornings, softened hearts, silence over noise, sincerity over performance. If you’re coming in with heavy thoughts or worn-down edges

— I’ve been there. And I don’t offer insincerity, but I do offer space.

This is a course for those true believers who want to make art with sincerity. Who want to cultivate stillness. Who want to create not to impress, but to reflect. If you’re willing to show up and remember Allah with your hands as much as your heart, then you are welcome here.

Sincerely,

Tazkiyah Al-Qalb
