From sixth form college in Suffolk to London (Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance) to New York (The Juilliard School), Mejedi Owusu is a star in the making. At the age of 20, trumpeter Mejedi is currently mixing it with many of the Big Apple’s superstars, including pianist Emmet Cohen and vocalist Kurt Elling. Mejedi has performed at several of New York City’s most prestigious jazz venues, including Birdland, Dizzy’s Club (Jazz at Lincoln Center), Lucille’s (Harlem) and Smalls (Greenwich Village). In a remarkable coup for the Lit & Phil, on July 17th, Mejedi Owusu will be in concert with the Francis Tulip Trio!
Mejedi Owusu (trumpet); Francis Tulip (guitar); Tommy Fuller (double bass); Noah Stone (drums). July 17th promises to be an ‘I was there’ occasion!
