Join the LSEAAS in alleviating food wastage at Tekka Place!
Globally, about one-third of food (~ 1 billion tonnes) is wasted [UN WFP].
As part of the LSE's Global Day of Volunteering, the LSEAAS is partnering with MoNo to raise awareness about food wastage in Singapore. At the same time, there will be an initiative to support underprivileged communities through a Food Donation Drive.
Join us for a morning of activities comprising of the following:
- Educational Talk: Gain a deeper understanding of food waste in Singapore (30 - 60 mins)
- Sustainability Workshop: Learn to conduct the Look-Smell-Taste test, and to taste and compare various food items (30 - 45 mins)
- Donation drive: Loading and distributing food to pre-designated rental flats in Little India (120 mins)
The LSEAAS will be sponsoring the cost of the Education Talk for all alumni and Food Donation Drive for 25 families; we would love for You to join us on the 22nd of February!
MoNo
MoNo (https://www.mono.sg/) is a sustainability-focused social enterprise founded in 2022, supported by the National Youth Council and regulated by the Singapore Food Agency. MoNo raises awareness about food wastage in Singapore and diverts surplus food away from landfills to underprivileged communities.
LSE Global Day of Volunteering
LSE Global Day of Volunteering is a celebration of the volunteering LSE staff, students and alumni undertake for local charities and causes – from beach cleans and litter picks to running soup kitchens and food banks.
