56% of children in Arkansas have experienced at least one Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE). This is the highest in the nation. This means...If you work with children in any capacity, you are likely to encounter children who have experienced significant childhood trauma.
Early trauma can impact a child’s brain, body, and development in many ways, often leading to behaviors that may look like “acting out” or emotional outbursts. However, these behaviors often signal a deep need for safety, stability, and support. Children who have experienced trauma require extra care, understanding, and encouragement to thrive in a classroom or group setting.
The CALL is here to equip you with the tools and knowledge to create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for children from hard places. By fostering a trauma-informed approach, you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families in your community.
