As the fight for LGBTQ+ rights continues in our own time, Loving II stands as both a celebration of love between men and a gentle act of resistance. Join us for a powerful evening with Hugh Nini and Neal Treadwell, as they present their groundbreaking new book,
The event will feature a slideshow of rare, never-before-seen photographs from the Nini-Treadwell Collection—images of men tenderly in love with one another, captured between the 1850s and 1950s, often in defiance of invisibility and cultural taboo. These photographs remind us that queer love is not new, but has always been here.
Following the conversation and slideshow, there will be an audience Q&A and a book signing with the authors.
Moderated by Jim Provenzano. Jim is the author of seven novels, including the Lambda Literary Award-winning Every Time I Think of You, its sequel Message of Love, the novel PINS and its commissioned stage adaptation, and other works. A journalist, editor, and photographer in LGBTQ media for more than three decades, he lives in San Francisco and is currently the Arts & Nightlife Editor for the Bay Area Reporter, where he's also worked in other positions since 1992. www.jimprovenzano.com
