The evening unfolds in waves of DJ sets, arias, and music of traditional Chinese instruments that honor artistic traditions both ancient and new.
Sets by DJ Masonic (composer Mason Bates) and DJ Justin Reed (illmeasures Chicago) will be interspersed with music from Huang Ruo, composer of SF Opera’s upcoming production The Monkey King, as well as music from composers such as Verdi to de Falla to prodigy Yangfan Xu.
The Asian Art Museum’s gorgeous architecture becomes a canvas for stunning immersive visual projections from Mark Johns in this one-night-only journey through centuries of artistic heritage.
