About our Poets
Bee Asha Singh is a spoken word artist born and living in Edinburgh. Between Rap and Poetry her work is a cathartic outlet that she uses to explore themes of sexuality, trauma and gender equality, characterised by an openness to talk about her lived experiences. In 2019 Asha starred in the BBC Documentary, Spit it Out. This year she has co-founded award winning charity, The Spit it Out Project, released her first album ‘From Girl to Men’, won the SAMA best newcomer award and was featured in YWCA 30 under 30’s.
Jasmine Gardosi is a multiple slam champion, beatboxer, Birmingham Poet Laureate finalist and winner of the Out-Spoken Prize for Poetry. Her work exploring identity, LGBTQ issues and mental health has appeared on Button Poetry, at the Tate Modern, Glastonbury Festival, across BBC Radio and on Sky Arts’ BAFTA-winning show, Life & Rhymes. Her poetry/beatbox/Celtic dubstep show 'Dancing To Music You Hate' explores gender identity and was commissioned by Warwick Arts Centre.
Jo Gilbert is a spoken word artist and writer from Aberdeen, who writes in their native tongue of Doric and English. Jo has had work commissioned for film, art installations and festivals, including StAnza 2021, Look Again Festival and most recently, a commission for Aberdeen Art Gallery to create pieces for the permanent collection. Jo is currently working on their first full poetry collection.
Harry Josephine Giles is a writer and performer from Orkney, living in Leith. Their poetry collections The Games (Out-Spoken Press, 2018) and Tonguit (Freight Books 2015) were between them shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, the Saltire Prize and the Edwin Morgan Poetry Award. Their show Drone debuted in the Made in Scotland Showcase at the 2019 Edinburgh Fringe and toured internationally and their performance What We Owe was picked by the Guardian's best-of-the-Fringe 2013 roundup in the “But Is It Art?” category
