On August 13th, join us for another combined concert by Unheard-of Ensemble and PART Ensemble. Unheard-of Ensemble will be opening with Christian Quiñones’s Loud Music for Quiet Places, a quartet which decontextualizes Bomba music elements by putting them in a really intimate and quiet setting, until they can no longer contain their loudness. Matheus performs a movement from Juri Seo’s Toy Store for solo violin and electronics. A combined Unheard-of Ensemble and PART Ensemble will then play Christopher Stark’s Maple, featuring a quartet and dancers; composition faculty Juri Seo’s Lost Songs, capturing the Kauaʻi ʻōʻō; and the concert finishes with Antoine Beuger’s quiet and evocative studies of the infinite continuum of musical tones and the nature of ensemble playing: Tuning Pieces which can feature any number of performers from two up to 20 players.
