"Nancelot" is a five-part suite that enchants from the very first second. Impressionistic surfaces intoned with great gestures are sometimes ironically, sometimes artistically broken up as the mood takes them - austerity becomes pleasure, fabulation turns into suspense and the intricate details of the compositions sparkle like exposed gemstones. This is highly complex and yet thoroughly playful jazz. Nancelot ignores stylistic boundaries and flirts with Debussy and Ravel as well as with driving grooves.
