As part of WOW’s Ecosinema event, we’re proud to host the Welsh premiere of 'Lost for Words'.This poetic documentary invites us to reflect on our connection with nature, guided by the voices of children, elders, artists, scientists, and activists. Inspired by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris’ beloved book 'The Lost Words', the film traces the disappearance of everyday nature-words such as “acorn,” “otter,” and “bluebell,” asking: how can we care for something we cannot name?
Journeying through the UK’s seasons, the film blends science and poetry to explore how language, memory, and imagination shape our bond with the living world.
The screening will be followed by a live Q&A with director Hannah Papacek Harper, chaired by Mererid Hopwood – poet, academic, and the first woman to win the Chair at the National Eisteddfod. A passionate advocate for the Welsh language, Mererid brings a deep perspective on how language and culture can nurture our ecological imagination.
