About this Event
It’s tiiiiiime!
Well this is a STACKED line-up. Booked long before Ted decided to hang up the boots, we can’t think of a more fitting way to say goodbye to the city with which he is synonymous.
A member of London's Bleep43 collective, Bea Brennan came to our attention via her “Day, Time Variations” EP in 2020, a luminescent set of moods on Surgeon & Dan Bean’s Old Technology imprint. She followed that up with one of the highlights of 2022, the stunning “Jagged High” LP, which didn’t leave the playlist here at Unscene Manor for many months.
Drawing from influences as diverse as Suzanne Ciani, Steve Reich & afterhours raving, Brennan’s output is ethereal & psychedelic yet grounded in a wonderful reality. With a grasp of melody & harmony reminiscent of Terry Riley, her compositions stand out firmly in the sea of contemporary ambient wallpaper and indulgent modular synthesis. Electronic music with real heart, this promises to be a show that will linger in the memory long after the final tones have subsided.
As if a Bea Brennan debut wasn't enough, we've also got the first ever live collaboration from Limerick favourites mankyy & Dan Walsh (Fixity)! Led by the improvised electronics of mankyy utilising his custom MAX sampling patch while Walsh attempts a freestyle response, this will be seat of the pants stuff from two of the leading lights in underground Irish music.
And then we get to Naive Ted. His final set in a room that has made many of his best memories. There will be delving into the extensive back catalogue. There will be experimenting. There will be skratching. There will be mistakes. But most of all, there will be dance music. Because the people wanna dance.
