With support from the SFU School for the Contemporary Arts, Vancouver artist and SCA alumnus Scott Morgan, aka Loscil, presents audio-visual treatments of compositions from his forthcoming album, Lake Fire. Lake Fire is a densely textured work exploring themes of destruction and rejuvenation, due to be released May 1st on the esteemed American imprint, kranky.Lauded Vancouver bass player James Meger will join Loscil to perform a live rendition of the piece Ash Clouds from Lake Fire, and perform a solo, improvised set on double bass.
Portland-based artist Patricia Wolf will open the evening. Wolf uses electronics, voice, and field recordings to produce non-linear compositions that draw listeners to a hypnotic inner world. Her use of melody and repetition manipulate the listeners' perception of time, conjuring vivid textures, and atmospheres.
