Los Sóngoros (Named after a Cuban poem and a line in Guantanamera) is a group of people who came together because of their love of Cuban music. Then with the addition of a Brazilian guitarist, we incorporated Brazilian music as well, both music new to us and some already familiar to us.We try and be as authentic as possible, as for instance we have only studied with and continue to study and learn from Cuban music masters. The instrumentation is vocals, guitar, Cuban tres,violin, mandolin, congas, bongos, a mixed drum set and many traditional hand percussion instruments.
The group includes founders Nowa Crosby, Cuban tres, violin, mandolin, vocals and Ramiros Barrantes, vocals and percussion; Dwight Ritscher vocals, mixed drum set and percussion; Lucio Costa vocals and 7 string Brazilian guitar; Clarence Davis congas; Marina Martin vocals and percussion. There are also several guest singers who perform with us at various times.
