Join us for an unforgettable evening of Afro–Puerto Rican rhythm as Los Pleneros de la 21 bring their electrifying sound to Upstairs at Smoketown in Brunswick on Friday, May 29th from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM.Rooted in tradition and alive with contemporary energy, Los Pleneros de la 21 are internationally recognized ambassadors of Plena — Puerto Rico’s vibrant “newspaper of the people.” With hand drums, call-and-response vocals, and infectious rhythms, the ensemble transforms every performance into a joyful, participatory celebration of culture and community.
This special one-hour concert is free and open to the public, made possible through the generous sponsorship of Mid Atlantic Arts and Friends of the Brunswick Branch Library. Whether you’re discovering Plena for the first time or reconnecting with beloved traditions, come experience an evening of music that moves the body and lifts the spirit.
Doors open at 6pm, followed immediately by a Salsa dancing class by Victor Maysonet, of All Out Danza, that will get you moving before the concert. After the concert All Out Danza will DJ to keep the music and dancing going through 10pm.
