Glimpse AWAKEN IFS Practices To Live Your Truth

“I can’t meditate” is usually what people say when I tell them l integrate IFS and parts-work with meditation arts. But with my glimpse meditation practices we are able to bring our awareness to whatever part of us is active in the body in moments-making it easy. By doing this, we are able to be with a drop of a part of us and their feelings, allowing less overwhelm . We don't need lots of time to meditate, nor do we need to "clear our mind of thoughts" b/c often that is impossible too. This makes meditation and parts-work no biggie because we are just getting a glimpse of whats happening in the body by bringing Self-awareness to an emotion- anxiety, anger, sadness and giving it our presence and breath. By doing this we get more moments of calm, pleasure, presence and allow ourselves to experience that we actually CAN be with our feelings and that showing up for ourselves can be simple.
For folks practicing IFS, glimpses are also a very easy and assessable way to practice contact with Self-energy, or who we are in addition to our parts. In this practice our Self-awareness is the Self-energy that has the ability to observe our breath or our feelings that live in our soma (body) with a sense of neutrality or curiosity. This makes our ability to unblend from strong emotions even easier or even just bring a witness to whatever part of us needs our attention. I have found that these practices also make it easy for those we help to understand what Self and parts are as it is simplified to awareness meeting what we are holding in our moments of mindfulness. I am excited to offer two monthly workshops in May that will focus on these practices.
The more we practice glimpse AWAKEN IFS practices the more we have access to our Truth. Here are common parts of us that make it challenging to assess our Truth and "trust ourselves" or our true nature:
• Manager parts that learned early that certain truths (about desire, identity, needs, rage, grief) were too risky to show and learned that they should
keep the authentic self-hidden to avoid rejection, shame, or harm
• Perfectionist parts that insist you must present a curated, acceptable version of yourself
• People-pleasing parts that prioritize others’ comfort over your own truth
• Exiles holding core beliefs like I’m too much, too different, fundamentally wrong — their burden is often what “living your truth” would expose
• Parts that internalized messages from caregivers or culture that your authentic self was a problem
· Parts with protective loyalties or “contracts” for connection
• Parts that are loyal to a family system, religion, or culture that couldn’t hold your full truth — staying small feels like belonging, staying safe, or
even love
• Conformist parts that genuinely believe blending in is survival
· Parts that preemptively “self-abandon”
• Parts that anticipate rejection so quickly they silence you before anyone else does
• Inner critics that police self-expression as a protective function
· Parts that guard against hope because they were in situations where they felt helpless to change anything. Belief Hope=Disappointment therefore
hope is dangerous.
· Parts that learned that being “seen” was dangerous either physically/emotionally/sexually
The good news is that by practicing glimpse AWAKEN IFS meditations we can finally learn to bring a greater sense of presence to ourselves and our body, allow us to trust our instincts over time and know Our Truth. Our Truth is the ability to have discernment over what parts of us are old, reactive and protective and what actually matters to the insticts/original nature of unburdened True Self of our unburdened inner child or inner knowing. It is by these practices that we get to know Our Truth and begin to live our Truth more in every day life.

It unites somatic tracking, authentic movement, IFS parts work, and systemic constellation practice. Anger is given space in the room embodied by participants playing the role of parts, so what's been frozen in the body for years can finally complete its interrupted expression and purpose. The anger turns toward what it loves, names what it protects, and receives the acknowledgment it has needed. In that turning, it becomes advocacy. Discernment. Fire in service of life.

Join the AWAKEN IFS community workshopMONTHLY AWAKEN IFS Support & Learn Group
Each month has a different topic to expand your embodied IFS training, personal and professional practice. Participants will be guided through an experiential, somatic IFS meditation, with optional prompts for authentic movement & expression to get to know embodied parts and Self-awareness states.
Participants will share their experiences and support eachother in their IFS practice and how to integrate these skills into their every day lives for more resiliancy, joy and contentment. Optional role-play, drawing and writing is availible for explorarion.
This experiential journey through Expressive IFS techniques will allow participants to:
-Learn IFS basics such as unblending, polarizations, protective parts, exiles, unburdenings, legacy burdens, UBs and Guides from somatic, embodied direct experience.
and attend to their own protective parts that collapse, freeze, fight or fawn related to oppression and privilege
-Experience and get to know the somatic qualities of their Self and Self-Awareness States
- Learn how to utilize Expressive IFS for their own freedom and liberation as well as the clients they serve with: Authentic Movement, Psychodramatic Techniques, Somatic Constellations, and View of Buddhist Self-Awareness States
*Participants must have a basic, 101 understanding of IFS to attend.
*This meeting is donation-based to help accessibility. This meeting is open also practices being an affirming space for LGBTQ+, BIPOIC, allies and for those whom do not align with organizations connected to hate & harm.
