A Tribute to Lorraine Hansberry & Her List-making Practice
A Writing Workshop with Sheena Daree Romero
Sunday, May 17
3 – 5 PM
Lists—they’re not just for groceries, chores, and Virgos. During this two-hour workshop, we’ll explore how lists function as tools for memory, discovery, and declaration and can serve as generative forces in our lives and writing. In celebration of Lorraine Hansberry’s birthday, we’ll open with the lists she kept of things she liked, hated, and was “bored to death with,” which includes Eartha Kitt, rumors of war, and sex. We’ll also consider how other artists and thinkers use lists for inquiry, documentation, connecting, and dreaming. Finally, we’ll draft, design, and discuss lists of our own.
This workshop is for Black folks of all ages and gender expressions
