Jazz fans, save the date, July 27th for a don't-miss night of amazing jazz music and fine dining!On July 27th, Dave's Jazz Bistro celebrates the vision of West Coast drummer and educator Lorca Hart, whose career is dedicated to the craft of drumming, jazz tradition and history, and ensemble collaboration.
Originally from Taos, New Mexico, and son of jazz legend Billy Hart, Lorca is a sought-after player and educator in San Francisco, California. Performing with him are Ralph Moore on saxophone, Josh Nelson on piano, and Edwin Livingston on bass.
This lively performance is paired with a unique menu inspired by the vibrant food scene in California, where Lorca Hart makes his home.
First Course: Shrimp Tamal (Vegetarian Substitute: Mushrooms and Squash), Sweet Corn, Tomatoes, Roasted Garlic and Tasso Ham Cream
Choice of Entrée:
* Grilled Lamb Loin prepared with Roasted Chayote and Papas Bravas with Chimichurri
* Seared Sea Scallops and Grits served with Roasted Corn, Tomato, Onion, and Olives
* Grilled Chayote and Papas Bravas served with Tomato, Onion, and Olives
Third Course: Chocolate Crepes Topped with Brandied Apricots and Whipped Cream
These talented musicians will be playing tunes that Lorca recently composed for the Chamber Music America "New Jazz Works" grant, as well as material from their critically acclaimed 2020 release "Colors of Jazz," a mix of original compositions and covers that paints a compelling musical portrait.
Says David Roitstein, Jazz Program Director at California Institute of the Arts, “Part of the draw to Lorca is his beautiful sound and time feel and his deep listening and instincts as a rhythm section player.“
